Lily The novella/short novel has a lily subtext/theme recurring whatever you want to call it, in the book. I never set out to specifically slap anything of the sort in, detesting that sort of thing in high school lit classes where we had to analyze everything, but here’s my thing as a writer. I don’t like that sort of mind trickery, and I don’t put it in my work. The ocean means the ocean, theres no hidden symbolism, only the symbols you find for your self, and the ones I’ll just point to. This image…I want to turn it into some jewelery work for sure. Something the character in mind would wear. My creative endeavors, they like to tango. I’m willing to indulge them. ( There’s a occasional nod and wink humor over the lily theme in the book, which I just ran with. The lesson: pick your safeword carefully. At least no one said “rutabaga” or “goldfish”, right?)
